The Kodály concept is a philosophy of education and a concept of teaching.
Zoltán Kodály was a well-known Hungarian composer and musician that dedicated his life to musical education and the development of what he considered to be an element of national importance. Kodály firmly believed that music helps develop not only the skills of a person, but also the personality, intellect, and emotional diapason.
Based on this philosophy, he worked to develop and perfect what would be globally known as the Kodály concept, a comprehensive program to train basic musical skills, centering the entire educational process on concrete experience.
The Kodály method integrates in itself various ideas, techniques, and approaches to musical education, always guided by the principle that musical education should be a cultural experience, as much as a social one.
Known and appreciated all over the world, the Kodály method symbolizes to this day one of the most interesting and refined methodologies of musical education and is widely considered one of the most important educational tools to further a new artistic understanding and perfect performing skills.
